Well worth a visit on route to the National Waterways Museum, you can stop off here after tacking the 7 locks to Stoke Bruerne or if your prefer not to tackle the locks it's a pleasant 1 mile canal-side walk up to the pub & the museum. The Boat Inn is a long-established canal-side pub with plenty of great reviews across the internet.
3 miles south of Wyvern this canal-side pub - The Grove Lock might be the perfect first stop. Located beside Lock 28 of the Grand Union Canal, it's a lovely example of a great English waterside pub.
Outstanding, beautiful boat which exceeded our expectations, very well maintained, comfortable and very clean. The engine was smooth. Initial tutoring first class with time spent ensuring you fully understand the boat. Would firmly recommend to all, we were 6 grandparents, kids and adults and its a great way to bond and work together, we are returning in May 2023 so that says it all!

It was a great trip for the family, one week on the Grand Union Canal, we went north, turned at Braunston. Our boat was great and never failed on us. Well equipped. Fantastic weather. Nice people. Visited also the Bletchley Park museum on the way, very interesting for us Germans :-)

We took a three night short cruise with our two grandchildren aged 7 & 5 on the first weekend in September before they returned to school. It proved to be an ideal adventure for grandparents and grandchildren to share together. The boat was clean and comfortable, and easy to operate, and the children had fun helping my husband operate the locks, and learning to helm with me. It is a very peaceful way of life, the people you meet on the way are friendly and helpful, and you really slow down and enjoy being surrounded by nature, with swans coming to the kitchen window to be fed. The staff at Wyvern gave us a warm welcome and good instruction to get underway. It is VERY important to read the handbook and watch the video a couple of times before you go if this is your first trip. Highly recommended!
