We’ve recently partnered with the team at The Boat Co North adding 4 boats to our listings including one widebeam “New Dawn”.

This spacious boat has a masters bedroom and a second bedroom with 4 bunks. The design is modern and welcoming - it feels more like a floating apartment than a canal boat.

Widebeam - New Dawn - on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal

When you book a boat with The Boat Co North you’re likely to meet John on your first day with them a fellow live-aboard with passion for the waterways John purchased his first boat in March 2013 so you are in good hands - he will show you the ropes, answer any questions, share some canal-side stories & when you are feeling confident set you on your way.

You don’t need any previous experience for a canal holiday on one of Boat Co North’s luxurious vessels - which start in Leeds, West Yorkshire. From how to steer the boat, getting through the first locks and how to fill up the water tank - it’s all part of the introduction to your canal boat holiday.

Boat Co North, formerly known as White Rose Canal Holidays, is based at Castleton Mill in Leeds, from where you can start your holiday in either direction - North, on the Leeds & Liverpool or South, towards the Aire & Calder and Calder & Hebble Navigation. Due to all of these waterways being wide navigations, you can even choose between a narrowboat and a widebeam.

Included in the experience is a 24/7 call out service - if you need help or advice (even if it’s just for a pub recommendation) - the team from BoatCo North is always on hand.

All of the boats, both narrowboat and widebeam, are pet-friendly. Enjoy your holiday with your pooch in the epicentre of the Northern Waterways.

If you can’t decide between a narrow boat and wide beam, then you might want to take a look at our direct comparison. Both types of boats work the same way and are easy to handle. There is no special licence required and you can cruise all of the recommended routes. Moorings on the Leeds & Liverpool canal, the Aire & Calder and Calder & Hebble Navigation are suitable for both types of boats most of the time.

A holiday on one of BoatCo North’s canal boats is an unforgettable experience - cruise among the spectacular scenery of the Pennines, experience the vast number of pubs and have interesting things, such as museums and nature reserves, at your fingertips.
